Olá and welcome to the YARD Theatre Company CTW Blog três! This was our last week of 2011 yet we cannot allow ourselves to slip. Our first session with a heart pumping adrenaline racing game of…….BUDGE! This is a great warm up game as it gets everyone energised, wakes everyone up, brushing of the cold winter weather and opens up the vocal calls with the shouting of “BUDGE” and the laughter that fills the room. We then returned back to the immortal William Shake your speare! We were all given either individual monologues or a duologue from Romeo and Juliet, which we took away and studied for 5-10 minutes. After we had all had some time to study the scripts, two members were selected, in this case, Yvez and Obinna, who then sat in the performance space, they were then asked to read the duologue. They were then given a scenario to improvise which was different to the one in the script, however, at some point, decided by our Fearless Leader Rachael, they were to go back to the script, yet keeping the emotion of the improvised scene. Very tricky stuff! As always they tackled the tricky task in the usual YARD fashion. A second pair was then selected and was given the same task yet with a different improvised scenario; this pair consisted of me and Zara. It really is a difficult task, because your reading from the text, yet still keeping the emotion and feeling from the impro scenario.
Our second and final session of the year was our Christmas party! We all brought in some type of food, snacks or beverage for the group to chow down on whilst pulling crackers, wearing Christmas hats and listening to music provided by DJ Obi-wan. So, to end this blog and to end 2011, from YARD, tchau, TTFN and Merry Christmas!
